The Mid-Anglia Centre would be pleased to
welcome you to any of the rallies listed in this rally
programme book. Our rallies are simply a gathering of Caravan
Club members, for a weekend or a holiday, to promote
friendship and common interests and have some fun along the
way.
The Rally Marshals are ordinary members who
organise a rally, including arranging a site and services,
signing the approach to the site, and putting on a programme of
events for your entertainment and enjoyment. This may include a
social evening, a dance, sporting activities, or a trip. The
rally may also coincide with a local event like a garden fete,
carnival, steam, or agricultural shows.
To attend one of these rallies you simply
fill in one of the rally booking slips enclosed with this book,
putting names where indicated, and send it to the Marshal who is
collecting them, before the closing date stipulated. You will
find details of names and addresses under each entry in this
book. Please note your slip will not normally be acknowledged
unless the rally is full.
When you go to you’re booked rally, follow
the directions as given, and when you are near the site look out
for Mid-Anglia Centre signs. These are Day-Glo yellow with the
letters MA and an arrow. As you enter the site you will see the
Rally Marshals, normally the first caravan on the field. Please
stop and introduce yourself and advise them that this is your
first rally. You will be given an envelope containing
information of the rally programme, any competitions, tickets
for a social or event if arranged, your rally plaque to show you
attended and printed on the front of the envelope will be the
cost of the rally.
You will then be shown to your pitch,
normally marked with a peg, to which you draw the front offside
corner of your van. The normal practice is to park the car on
the offside of the caravan thus enabling easy access to all
caravans. You will be advised of where the drinking water and
elsan disposal points are. Normally you will be asked to take
your dry waste home, unless the Marshals have been able to make
arrangements for its disposal.
During the weekend the Chairman of the rally
will call on you to welcome you to the Centre and your first
rally. They will tell you about the flagpole meeting that
usually takes place on the Sunday morning, where first ralliers
and visitors are introduced, birthday and anniversary plaques
are presented, and we formally thank the Rally Marshals. Future
events and competition results are announced and any raffles
drawn.
Honest it’s not that daunting! Come on and
give it a try. We would be only too happy to meet you and as the
old saying goes….
‘Strangers are only friends you haven’t yet met’.
